Dreaming of a bohemian wedding reception but not quite sure how to bring your vision to life?? We hear you! It can be tricky trying to style a bohemian wedding that is organic and eclectic, without feeling cluttered or mismatched.
We are seeing more and more relaxed brides creating beautiful boho-inspired weddings from the Gold Coast down to Byron Bay, so we thought we'd jump in to offer our own advice on styling the perfect bohemian event!
When it comes to hiring furniture and decorating your venue to create an authentic bohemian feel, there are a few key styling elements to keep in mind. It all comes down to colour, texture and beautiful details.
Whether you are envisaging a Tipi wed-fest or a garden cocktail party, here are our top tips to keep in mind when styling a bohemian wedding (along with some creative inspiration to get you started!)
1. MIX AND MATCH YOUR DECOR

The best part about bohemian style weddings is their relaxed and carefree nature, so you can definitely go a little kooky with your furniture and decor! An eclectic mix of items is the best way to steer away from the traditional "wedding" set-up and create something that is truly unique.
Don't be afraid to mix colours and textures when putting your furniture selections together. For example, you might have some linen lounge furniture that you contrast with a metallic coffee table and some patterned cushions. Or you might switch up your reception settings with a mixture of timber chairs and bench seats.
Think about your tablescape too. Instead of opting for standard plates, glassware and cutlery, why not add some coloured wine goblets or gold cutlery to add a little boho detail to your place settings? Get creative with your styling and break some rules if you have to!
2. INCORPORATE EARTHY COLOURS & NATURAL TEXTURES

Earthy colours and natural textures are another great way to create a beautiful bohemian wedding. When selecting your furniture, try to incorporate elements like timber or rattan to create a space that is organic and grounded. Details like walnut bentwood chairs, cane furniture and rattan charger plates work perfectly for a bohemian wedding.
Once you have the earthy tones as the base, choose the rest of your colour palette to suit. We love jewel tones like burgundy, amber and deep blues, offset with metallic details like gold, silver or bronze. Or for a more Moroccan-inspired look, think bright pinks, reds and oranges.
Natural linens are also a great way to create a beautiful bohemian tablescape. We love seeing flowing fabric table runners and soft linen napkins incorporated into boho weddings.
3. GO CRAZY WITH TEXTILES

Patterns and prints are the perfect way to create an eclectic bohemian reception. Try to include some soft furnishings like rugs and cushions throughout your wedding styling in different prints.
Textiles are also perfect for cocktail style receptions too if you want to create low seating areas. Scattered rugs, cushions and ottomans paired with a coffee table make the perfect picnic-style setting for your guests to lounge around and soak up the atmosphere!
4. COMPLETE THE LOOK WITH PLANTS AND BLOOMS
No bohemian wedding is complete without lush greenery and florals!
Tie your whole look together with stacks of potted plants and cascading flowers to complement your chosen colour palette. Keep your floral arrangements relaxed with asymmetrical trailing blooms - the more imperfect, the better!
Potted plants are also a super easy and effective way to fill up empty spaces and add some beautiful greenery into your day. We love positioning plants amongst lounge settings, next to bars, and in any blank corners that need some extra love!
5. MAKE IT GLOW
Lighting is one of the most important elements of any wedding reception but particular for bohemian weddings! It's all about the ambience, so don't forget to dress your tables with stacks of candles, or have strings of lights hanging above to create a glowing reception. You can even take it a step further with metallic pendants or cane baskets rigged at different heights above your tables for a more organic look.
The most important thing to remember when styling a bohemian wedding is that there really are no rules! You have our full permission to go a little wild with your furniture and decor selections to bring your boho vision to life ;)
Happy planning! x
