Every time we work alongside the styling powerhouse team at The Events Lounge, we are completely blown away by the end result - and this stunning Gold Coast wedding for Chantelle and Ted was no exception!
It's no secret that Rachael and her team are experts at creating incredible, impactful spaces just like this one. Looking over the beautiful shots from this Sheraton Mirage wedding, it got us thinking about how a function room can be completely transformed by thoughtful styling.
We are spoilt for choice here on the Gold Coast when it comes to stylish resorts and hotels that have a multitude of function rooms for hire. But styling a function room can sometimes require a different approach to styling other purpose-built spaces. Don't forget that these rooms are designed not just for beautiful weddings but also for corporate events and functions, so the framework of the room is usually a reflection of this.
As proven by The Events Lounge through this amazing setup, there are a few key elements you should focus on in order to transform a function room for a wedding. Here are some of our top tips to keep in mind!
KEEP IT SIMPLE WITH YOUR COLOUR SCHEME
If you're working with a function room that has patterned carpet tiles, coloured wallpaper or permanent artwork, it's important to work WITH the space and not against it! You'll want to avoid any colours or patterns that are going to clash with the foundation of the space.
A great option to avoid any contrasting prints or tones and keep the space looking easy on the eye is through a simple colour palette - think crisp whites, soft greys and fresh greenery which have worked perfectly here to complement the space.
CHOOSE A BEAUTIFUL CHAIR
Investing in some beautiful chairs is such a simple and effective way to completely transform a room. I mean, seriously - just look at how much of an impact these white bentwood chairs have on the overall look and feel of the space! You can't imagine the room without them - it would look completely different.
Remember that your chairs are one of first details your guests will notice about the space, so it really is a worthwhile investment.
CREATE HEIGHT WITH YOUR FLORALS
These insanely beautiful floral centrepieces by Stem Design work so well to transform the space because of the inclusion of height!
Big, tall, dramatic floral centrepieces like these are definitely something to consider if you really want to make an eye-catching impact. All of that vibrant greenery also does wonders for freshening up the space and adding an organic and earthy ambience to the room.
FILL EMPTY SPACES
If you have some empty corners to fill when it comes to your function room then a killer lounging area is the perfect solution as proven here by The Events Lounge team!
We recommend sticking with the colour scheme you have chosen so that your break-out space flows cohesively with the rest of your reception. A sofa or two, some armchairs, a coffee table, plenty of textiles and you have yourself a comfy little area for guests to kick back and relax with a drink.... OR an after-dinner treat like this gelato cart by Wheel & Spoon!
A thoughtful and simplistic approach to styling is always the best option when it comes to transforming a function room into an unforgettable wedding! Make the most of the space you have by focusing on these key elements to create something really beautiful that your guests will remember forever.
Happy planning! x
