OSTERIA CASUARINA: FURNITURE AND DECOR TIPS
Situated in our neighbouring seaside town of Casuarina, Osteria would have to be one of our favourite local wedding venues in Northern NSW.
Featuring an intimate garden and private refinery hall, we love working with our Osteria couples to help them create the perfect setting for their big day!
Our team are very familiar with the Osteria space, with plenty of experience working at this gorgeous venue and countless Osteria weddings now under our belt. From furniture and decor requirements to floor plan tips and visual inspiration, we’re here to help.
Keep reading as we run you through the different elements you may need for your ceremony, cocktail hour and reception at Osteria Casuarina, including some recent images from real Osteria weddings to get you started.
OSTERIA CASUARINA: CEREMONY REQUIREMENTS
Most of our Osteria couples choose to host their ceremony on-site in the lush green private garden. Ceremony settings are usually positioned either north facing or west facing - both options work well.
Osteria couples have access to the ceremony chairs and arbour provided by the venue. Although, if you’d prefer white chairs, bench seats or a different ceremony arbour/backdrop, we can help you here! We've found that white furniture works beautifully in the garden as a fresh contrast against all of the gorgeous green.
You’ll also need to consider a signing table and signing chairs, along with an occasional table for elements like ceremony programs, rose cones and confetti toss.

Osteria Casuarina: Cocktail Hour Requirements
Whether you’re spending an hour or two in the Osteria garden before dinner, or planning a cocktail stand-up reception, this is where you’ll want to consider bringing in a few extra furniture pieces to dress the space and keep your guests comfortable.
Cocktail furniture such as lounge packages, ottomans, dry bars and stools are the perfect accompaniment for the Osteria garden. We usually recommend natural colours and earthy tones to tie in with the relaxed garden surroundings - white, timber, grey and pastels work beautifully.
With the recent venue renovations, the Osteria garden now features central paved walkways, breaking up the space into four grassed sections. These grassed areas are ideal for your cocktail furniture settings.
For cocktail-style settings, we always suggest a mix of high and low seating options to make the space look visually interesting along with accommodating for the comfort of your guests. You might choose to fit-out one or two garden sections with dry bars and stools, and include a sofa package or lounge setting in the other.
To figure out your cocktail furniture quantities, consider your guest numbers first and work from there. We generally recommend enough cocktail seating to accommodate at least 50 - 70% of your guests for a full cocktail-style reception.
As an example, for guest numbers between 80 - 100, you might want to include:
2 x lounge areas, including sofas, armchairs and/or ottomans, and coffee tables.
3-4 high bars paired with stools
3-4 lower cafe tables or dining tables paired with low chairs or bench seats
Or for a smaller wedding of around 50 - 70 pax, you could consider:
2 x lounge areas, including sofas, armchairs and/or ottomans and coffee tables
2 - 3 high bars paired with stools
2-3 additional ottomans or 2-3 low table settings
Don’t forget to complete your lounge settings with cushions and textiles, and consider vases for dry bar and coffee tables flower arrangements. If you’re getting married during the sunnier months, you might also want to think about bringing in 1 or 2 additional market umbrellas to provide some extra shade.
In terms of furniture and decor options, we have many different styles available to suit the vision you have in mind for your wedding! For example, our French linen sofa settings, tufted ottomans, wine barrels and bentwood stools work beautifully for a soft and romantic look, while our hairpin dry bars and Soho wire stools are best suited for a more modern setting.
And don’t forget - if you’re not quite sure which furniture style is going to be the best fit for your wedding vision, you can always ask our team for suggestions! This is what we’re here for, and we can put a furniture plan together for you with some recommendations.

Osteria Casuarina: Reception Requirements
For a sit-down reception in the Osteria refinery hall, you have access to tables and chairs from the venue. However, you’re also welcome to consider a different chair style if that suits your wedding vision - our white bentwood and white soho chairs both work beautifully in the space.
It’s all about the details for reception styling, so you might want to consider injecting some personality into your table settings with decor such as charger plates, gold cutlery, crystal glassware, coloured glassware or coloured napkins.
Some other furniture and decor requirements you might need for your reception include a backdrop for your bridal party or photo booth, an occasional table for gifts/guestbook/dessert, cake platters, lanterns, vases and tea light holders.
